Webcast: Prevention as They Grow: Underage Drinking Prevention From Early Childhood to Young Adulthood
This webcast workshop addressed underage drinking prevention from a developmental
perspective. Speakers discussed their research regarding fundamental
developmental needs and milestones from early childhood to young adulthood.
The speakers described transition points during childhood development when
prevention messages should be implemented or reinforced. They also presented
research that supports the continuing role of parents of college-age children
in prevention. A final section of the workshop identified resources available
from the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA)
to implement underage drinking prevention from preschool through college.
