Underage Drinking Fact Sheet (NIAAA)

Alcohol is the most widely used substance among America’s youth, and drinking by young people poses enormous health and safety risks. Not only are adolescents at increased risk of injuries and accidents while under the influence, but those who begin drinking early are at increased risk of alcohol problems later in life. This fact sheet provides underage drinking statistics and information on the dangers and warning signs of underage drinking, as well as interventions to prevent and treat alcohol-related problems among youth.
