Prevention at the Pool

Start Date: 08/24/2019

American Fork Fitness Center
454 N Center St
American Fork , UT 84003

Activity Description:

The Utah Valley Drug Prevention Coalition’s (DPC) mission is to prevent and reduce alcohol, marijuana, tobacco, and prescription drug misuse among youth living in Utah County. We are pleased to announce a Community Talk Townhall event discussing youth drug and alcohol prevention. We've had low attendance at traditional townhall meetings in the past, so we decided to try something new to reach local families by hosting the event at a pool and partnering with other community organizations such as: American Fork Communities That Care, Utah County youth coalition OUTRAGE!, the Utah County Department of Drug and Alcohol Prevention and Treatment, and our coalition, the Utah Valley Drug Prevention Coalition. This event promotes both quality family time, which is a protective factor against underage alcohol and drug use, and gives us an opportunity to gather and give out information. The anti-underage drinking campaign, Parents Empowered, will be promoted throughout this event using swag, posters, and brochures.
