E-cigarette Prohibitions Related to Alcohol Consumption

Researchers evaluated the potential effects of the prohibition of e-cigarette use on alcohol consumption rates. A survey of 617 e-cigarette users revealed alcohol use disorder identification test scores, total drinks consumed over 14 days, and average drinks per drinking day were all lower when e-cigarettes were prohibited.

The study, “Prohibition of E-Cigarettes in the US: Are Prohibitions Where Alcohol Is Consumed Related to Lower Alcohol Consumption?,” is published in Journal of Public Health Policy. The National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism supported this research effort.
