Wrapping Up Your Communities Talk Event: What’s Next?

10/17/2016

Learn how SAMHSA can help promote your work nationally.

You work hard to plan and hold your Communities Talk event. As we wind down the 2016 Communities Talk: Town Hall Meeting cycle, we want to be sure that your hard work is recognized not just locally, but nationally and by other prevention-focused organizations, too. The best way to ensure that your successes are shared with others is to share information with us! You can do this in a few ways.

The first is to complete the web-based Organizer Survey, which is sent via email to every organization registered for the Communities Talk effort. SAMHSA created this survey to determine community members’ intentions to engage in prevention as a follow-up to their events and to garner feedback on the value and effectiveness of its Communities Talk initiative. Recently, we sent out an e-mail to all CBOs registered for a Communities Talk event with a link to the Organizer Survey. Be on the lookout for it and, if you haven’t already done so, please complete it as soon as you can. Your feedback is confidential and the survey should only take 20 minutes of your time.

Additionally, Communities Talk organizations are selected at random to receive a Participant Feedback Form to distribute to people attending their Communities Talk events. This feedback helps us draw important connections between your critical prevention work and that of your fellow community-based organizations.

Next, in addition to the Organizer Survey, completing an Event Recap is an immediate way to share your program’s success or progress. Finally, don’t forget to share photos, copies of media coverage, flyers, videos, and social media postings from your events. Email these materials, or links to them, to info@stopalcoholabuse.net. And check out the Image Gallery to see what other communities have done as part of Communities Talk.

If you have questions or need technical assistance, please contact info@stopalcoholabuse.net. Thank you for your feedback, which will help us assess the 2016 Communities Talk initiative and shape our efforts for the future.
