SAMHSA Announces the 2019 Communities Talk Meetings to Prevent Underage Drinking

10/15/2018

Since 2006, thousands of Communities Talk Meetings held across the country have helped increase public awareness of and action around the prevention of underage drinking. Many of you have held Communities Talk Meetings since the beginning, and we’re grateful for your support. Community-based organizations and colleges and universities that hold meetings are essential in leading the conversation and promoting the idea that underage drinking is preventable. Your work is the key to making a difference.

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA), together with the Interagency Coordinating Committee on the Prevention of Underage Drinking (ICCPUD) and other national partners, will sponsor the seventh round of Communities Talk Meetings to Prevent Underage Drinking in 2019.

Watch your email for an invitation to register! Until then, join the underage drinking prevention conversation online by using #CommunitiesTalk on social media.

As you gear up for the next Communities Talk event cycle, remember that preventing underage drinking in your community can yield big rewards in terms of health, safety, academic achievement, employment, stable families, and safe communities.

Planning a successful Communities Talk event involves many steps, from promoting your event, to planning the event, and evaluating results.
