2016 Communities Talk Success Stories Now Available

07/13/2017

Since 2006, Communities Talk Meetings to Prevent Underage Drinking have brought together educators, health care providers, families, community leaders, local businesses, and youth to discuss the best strategies to increase awareness of underage drinking in their neighborhoods, strengthen or create underage drinking prevention laws and ordinances, and bring together all the diverse individuals, groups, and organizations necessary to move an issue forward.

In 2016, 1,500 Communities Talk meetings were held, and 19 of these meetings were selected as Success Stories to showcase a variety of event formats and innovative methods of planning, outreach, evaluation and future actions items for prevention.

These success stories represent outstanding examples of Communities Talk meetings and provide quick snapshots of each community’s local landscape, how they planned the event, the event’s impact, and future plans as a way to inspire others who want to plan their own Communities Talk events.

Read more about this month’s Communities Talk success stories from organizations in Chickasaw County, Iowa; Enfield, Connecticut; Janesville, Wisconsin; and Newton, New Jersey.
